The Vector Biology Group at BioMarin Pharmaceutical is currently recruiting exceptional individuals at the Scientist level in our research- Vector Biology group to specialize in DMD – gene therapy research. Successful candidates will join a dynamic interdisciplinary group which will develop and commercialize the major gene therapeutics for several genetic diseases. Applicants should have a PhD degree in a relevant field, be experts in DMD biology, molecular biology, and cell biology. Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, viral-based vector biology, virology, gene therapy, protein expression analysis is required. Teamwork, individual-initiative, and meticulous recordkeeping are essential.
This position is for a research scientist with expertise in gene therapy and the biology of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
-Muscle applications/diseases, assays
-Cell culture based assays and vector production
-Molecular biology – cloning, sequence analysis, PCR, qPCR
-Execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail
-PhD degree with extensive experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
-Muscle biology experience, in vitro and in vivo experience.
-Gene therapy experience
-Cell culture work – multiple cell lines, viral production
-Molecular biology – DNA isolation, primer design, PCR, cloning techniques
-Strong organization skills and computer skills.
-Assay development experience
-Protein biology/ chemistry – ELISA, Western
-Strong organization skills and ability to multitask efficiently in a dynamic environment
Scientist 2: PhD with 2-5+ years relevant industry experience
Senior Scientist 1: PhD with 5+ years relevant industry experience
Must be able to work in a team format and present data at internal meetings.
