Maintenance & Custodian Associate

$15.00/hr

Swing shift Monday-Tuesday 3:30pm-Midnight Saturdays & Sundays Days

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is seeking an experienced Maintenance & Custodian Associate to join our team.  The person chosen for this position will help to maintain our beautiful, historic campus in Lakewood, CO.  Candidates must live within commuting distance of our campus and have reliable transportation.  2+ years of experience highly preferred. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information

  • Collects equipment and/or supplies for daily use. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed

  • Moves and replaces equipment and furniture for cleaning; moves furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis; moves equipment and furniture for rearrangement of offices, etc

  • Dusts and damp mops floors in corridors, baseboards, entrances, stairwells and other areas as assigned; scrub, strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors

  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets, furniture and mats; clean, dust, and wipe furniture; replace light bulbs

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedure; refill restroom dispensers

  • Washes walls, ceilings, floors, windows and furniture, as directed. 

  • Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition; launder cleaning rags and dust mops

  • Returns unused or unsoiled supplies to appropriate areas at end of day; keeps carts neat and orderly at all times; notifies Facilities Director of equipment needing repair

  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc

  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights

  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.

  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows, clean blinds

  • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; collect trash, compost and recycling from all areas within the college and transports to designated areas

  • Assist in the maintenance, operation and repair of electrical, mechanical and structural systems of buildings, grounds, and utility distribution

  • Perform minor maintenance and repair to designated equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance on building equipment; monitor boiler chemicals and settings

  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc

  • Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization

  • Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

  • Assist in the instruction and supervision of student help

Qualifications

  • Ability to speak, read and write English

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Prefer 2+ years of experience in janitorial work
