The ABE/HSE Retention Support Instructor will be a member of a team that supports student achievement and success from recruitment through graduation and beyond, advancing equitable economic mobility, personal empowerment, and transformed communities. The instructor will contribute to the success of College and Career Readiness students by assisting with the coordination of ABE/HSE courses and pathway programs, facilitating students’ academic progress and entry into post-secondary education, training, or employment. The ABE/HSE Instructor will assist College and Career Readiness ABE/HSE Coordinator with retention efforts, instructional and curriculum support, and other professional development to ensure program quality. In addition to performing the duties of an instructor, the successful candidate will work closely with the CCR leadership team to improve and increase CCR student enrollment and Measurable Gains.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Dept. of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
  • Two years’ experience with a data reporting system (such as Datatel/Colleague) used for entry and maintenance of data and for extracting data for state and customized reports.
  • Organized and detail oriented with a positive record of meeting deadlines and audit standards.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to adapt quickly.
  • Strong computer skills win Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to enter and compile data using a computer, a mainframe operating system, Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Ability to work with people at varying levels of education, English proficiency and social economic status.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data analysis, LEIS, Datatel/Colleague.
  • Management and supervisory experience.
  • Experience teaching in higher education, specifically a community college setting.
  • Demonstrated success working with a diverse population and in a team environment.
  • One year of experience in academic assessment, student retention and classroom instruction.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention efforts for the College and Career Readiness programs including outreach within the community and industrial locations.
  • Create, implement, and disseminate Student Retention Plan with measurable strategies in accordance with established College and Career Readiness program procedures.
  • Participate in the development, planning, implementation and administration of goals and objectives, policies and procedures related to ABE/HSE Programs.
  • Ensure record keeping is accurate, current and meets all compliance requirements.
  • Assist with transitioning students from College and Career Readiness programs into post-secondary and continuing education opportunities.
  • Will teach up to 12 hours per week in a semester and substitute as needed.

 

Professional Development:
  • Develops a professional development plan approved by the supervisor.
  • Maintains current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.
  • Maintains membership and participation in professional organizations.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in the areas of subject matter expertise; teaching and learning; the use of educational technology; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and other areas related to the strategic goals of the college.
  • Reads professional literature.
  • Keeps abreast of current technology relevant to instruction, advising, program area, and required institutional practices.
  • Attends workshops, conferences, and professional meetings.
  • Participates in professional development activities to fulfill professional development plan.
Institutional Service:
  • Adheres to all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Attends all required department, division, and college-wide meetings.
  • Serves on committees as required.
  • Participates in college-wide activities.
  • Participates in program planning and improvement processes.
  • Makes constructive contributions to the shared vision of the college by engaging in work groups and shared governance across campus.
  • Actively participates in student recruitment, engagement, retention, and completion efforts.
Community Relations:
  • Maintains contact with specialized vocations where applicable.
  • Is alert to public relations opportunities and uses these to promote the college and the department.
  • Assists in planning and conducting advisory committee meetings.
  • Represents the college and program at recruiting events as needed.
  • Cultivates an understanding of the strengths and growth opportunities of the communities that the college serves.
