Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position exists to provide assistance in maintaining a clean, safe and organized tool room. The Tool Room Assistant is responsible for issuing out tools and receiving tools to/and from the students and instructors. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assists in organizing the tool/supply room, in taking inventory of tools, supplies, and safety equipment.
  2. Assists in issuing and receiving instructional supplies and equipment.
  3. Issues tools to students and assures that they are returned to the tool room.
  4. Assists instructors in ordering instructional supplies and expendable materials.
  5. Assists instructors in the preparation of class and laboratory presentations and activities.
  6. Supervises students under the direction of instructors in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  7. Assists the student as directed instructors with individual problems pertaining to instructional and learning activities.
  8. Conducts student drill sessions and related teaching activities as directed by and under the supervision of instructors for handicapped, L.E.P., disadvantaged and other identified students with special needs.
  9. Assists instructors with the completion of necessary forms or reports required by LC and other agencies contracted by LC.
  10. Reports student grievance or disciplinary problems to instructors.
  11. Works at different time schedules and location to accommodate program-training requirements.
  12. Attends all staff meetings and in service workshops as directed.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:

  • Candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a least two years of recent field experience or post-secondary vocational/technical training in the Automotive Technology field.
 
Preferred:
  • Industry credentials within the Automotive or Diesel Technology field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must know the safe and proper operation of Automotive Technology tools and equipment.

Physical Requirements  
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment 
Work is performed in a standard office environment.    
Work-inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time.  
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
 
Special Conditions 
Immediate supervisor may assign other duties.  
May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed.
