
Part-Time Faculty - Noncredit English as a Second Language
Job Description
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
For a noncredit course in English as a Second Language (ESL) any of the following:
AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and of individuals with disabilities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous college-level or adult school teaching experience.
Background in theories of second language acquisition, second language methodology, linguistics, and the teaching of reading and writing to ESL students.
Experience teaching noncredit ESL.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time teaching assignment(s) for the 2024 spring semester, beginning February 2024. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit Certificate of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security card upon hire.

TESL Certification or a clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL if applicant holds one.
