Compensation: Starting from $74K*

*Starting salary is subject to change, negotiations currently in progress.

*Salary does not include various stipends offered (shift differential, certified officer, etc.)

ABOUT THE JOB!

This position performs a wide variety of tasks involving law enforcement, crime prevention, public relations, and assistance to citizens. Responds to calls for service, patrols areas of assignment and enforces criminal laws, traffic laws and village ordinances.

Investigates crimes and vehicle crashes and assists other agencies. Prepares reports and paperwork to document incidents and actions.

Officers work a desirable 12-hour shift schedule that offers numerous days off.

MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Citizenship: Must be a Citizen of the United States or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States.

Driver's License: Must possess a valid Driver's License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire.

Age Requirement: Applicant must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications {6/5/24) unless they are 20 and have completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university. Applicants must be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications {6/5/24) and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6., which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified {full-time) Law Enforcement Officer for a municipality in the United States.

Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate, or High School Proficiency Statement.

FOID: Must under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase, or otherwise possess a firearm.

Vision: Binocular vision must be correctable to 20/20.

Residency: No residency requirement at this time.

Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.

Salary: $74K subject to change, currently in CBA negotiations.

· Salary does not include the variety of stipends offered.

  • This position is represented by the Metropolitan Alliance of Police and participates in the Police Pension.
