Job Description

Position Description: The STEM/Computer Science Faculty member helps facilitate meaningful STEM instruction, teaches computer science classes, helps integrate academic technology in meaningful ways, and provides training and support to students and faculty. The faculty member is crucial in leading and further developing Nightingale’s K-12 STEM, computer science, academic technology, and Makerspace programs.


Responsibilities:

  • Teach STEM and computer science classes
  • Actively collaborate with faculty across science and math departments to develop interdisciplinary STEM initiatives and projects
  • Inspire, encourage, and support faculty and department heads with creative and interdisciplinary curriculum planning technology projects and initiative
  • Partner with the departmental technology integrators and technology department to plan, coordinate, and manage Nightingale’s K-12 computer science curriculum and academic technology program
  • Facilitate technology professional development opportunities that leverage academic technology into curriculum planning and instruction
  • Attend grade-level and divisional meetings
  • Attend school events as needed


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in educational technology, computer science, engineering, or related STEM field preferred
  • A minimum of 3-years of classroom teaching experience
  • Proficiency in professional programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, p5.js, etc.
  • Knowledgeable about computer science, STEM, instructional design, teaching pedagogy, technology integration, and makerspace tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated background of engaging with and adapting to diverse learners, creating developmentally appropriate and varied activities, and committed to the work of equity and inclusion, particularly within a school community and in the classroom
  • Experience with interdisciplinary planning and curriculum design


SALARY

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $95,000. Nightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
